Hospice emphasizes comfort-oriented care by providing physical, emotional, spiritual and volunteer services to both the patient and their family, which focuses on quality of life, rather than quanity.
How does Hospice differ from other types of health care?
Offers pain and symptom control rather than curative treatment.
Treats the person, not the disease, with a "team approach" to care.
Emphasizes quality, rather than length of life.
Considers the entire family, not just the patient.
Teaches family and friends care techniques.
Utilizes community volunteers to enrich the program through their dedication and compassion.
Hospice services are available to persons in Dawson, Wibaux, and Prairie Counties who need palliative measures rather than curative treatment. Patients who are determined as terminally ill by their Medical Provider, and who have less than a six-month life expectancy, are eligible for Hospice. To find out if you or someone you know may be eligible for Hospice Services, call our Home Care/Hospice Department at 1-800-431-2048 or 406-345-3395. Our offices are located at 1221 East Ames in Glendive.
