A Digital 3D mammogram provides a three-dimensional picture of the breast and is used to identify breast cancer or investigate the cause of breast problems, such as breast mass, pain, and nipple charge.

3-D mammography renders images of the breast in multiple "slices" from various angles. This makes it easier to find potentially worrisome abnormalities.
